MY STORY
KARA GANDELMAN
Hi everyone! My name is Kara Gandelman, and I want to welcome and introduce you to The Grateful Glass!
In 2002, I walked into my very first bar interview with absolutely zero experience in bar service. What I did have was clear understanding of how I liked to be treated as a guest. I told the interviewer that I spent plenty of time in bars, paid attention to what made people feel welcome, and believed great service started there. She took a chance on me – and hired me. That moment sparked a lifelong passion for hospitality rooted in connection, care, and making people feel seen.
My life changed forever after my husband passed away. What followed were years of grief, healing, and searching for where I fit in this world. Through the therapy and support of amazing friends, I came to truly understand the meaning of gratitude.
Today, I am deeply grateful for my beautiful life, my incredible friends and family, and the opportunity to be part of people’s most important moments – whether it’s a wedding, a graduation, celebrating a new baby, or a draft day. Being part of these milestones is an honor I never will take for granted.
